Atonement

Ok so you may not know that I love almost everything British.  In this case time periods of pre/post war Britain, country Manor life, upstairs/downstairs and the rich that always seem to be wasting time talking about proper tea etiquette.

K knows how much I love the time period and culture and so she rented the movie Atonement.

I will say that it was completely engulfed in the lifestyle.  The story traced along themes of love, misunderstanding and jealousy that tear people apart and a woman’s effort to make things right.

Very sad.  Incredible visuals.  And in the end, Atonement.  Reconcilliation.  Redemption. Seems appropriate that is was up for Best Picture.

This movie reminded me of:  Enemy at the Gates, Gosford Park, Never Let me Go, Great Expectations, Cold Mountain, Empire of the Sun, and Saving Private Ryan.

Mangoes: C – 9/10, K 8/10
