A lovely film glimpsing the life of a young social worker at a foster-care facility for high risk teens. We see these kids through the eyes of Grace, stunningly played by Brie Larson, while she see them through her own troubled heart. It’s easy to see how a movie like this could easily move into the cliche – I appreciated the awkward “I always wanted to work with at-risk youth” moment early in the film. But the actors set this movie apart with the heart-felt and honest portrayal of of mental illness, despair, denial, and hope.
